The Kuching Courts

The  Kuching Courts comprised of 2 High Courts ,3 Sessions Courts, and 3 Magistrates' Courts.Of these three courts,the High Court  is  higher in hierachy.Two other courts which are higher than the High Court are  the Court of Appeal Malaysia,and the Federal Court.However,they are based in Kuala Lumpur,and only hold circuit sittings  in Kuching.

The Chief Judge is the Head of the High Court in  Sabah and Sarawak,  and His Lordship's  Chambers is seated  in Kuching High Court .Kuching is  the Headquarters of the High Courts in  Sabah  and Sarawak.

The Courts in Kuching are situated at Jalan Gersik,Petra Jaya,Kuching,near to the State Legislative Assemply.They are housed  in the new Court Complex which was declared open on 6 October,2000.The new building has a modern outlook with majestic pillars surrounding it ,and a traditional roofing structure with ample rooms for future expansion.It  has a vast parking space for vehicles.

The old site of the Courts was at Jalan Court at the Kuching City where it was consistently used  for Court buildings for over 150 years since the the times of the White Rajahs.
