The new court complex at Gersik Road, Petrajaya, Kuching that was completed on 15 August 2000 and declared open on 6 October 2000 is by far the largest court complex in Malaysia. This RM31,000,000.00 complex replaces the old "Court House" complex at Main Bazaar Road, Kuching. It can accommodate 5 High Courts, 4 Sessions Courts and 8 Magistrates’ Courts. Currently, there are 2 High Courts, 3 Sessions Courts, and 3 Magistrates' Courts in operation at the complex. 2 of the High Court rooms have been converted to accommodate the Federal Court as well as the Court of Appeal of Malaysia. The court business at the complex was in full operation on 1 September 2000.
