                                         High Court

      The jurisdiction of the High Court includes the following:-

  • general supervisory and revisionary jurisdiction over all subordinate courts. 
  • reference of constitutional question from the Subordinate Courts 
Civil
  • civil appeal from Subordinate Courts (in excess of RM 10,000.00 except for questions of law and wife maintenance cases) 
  • civil jurisdiction to hear all civil proceedings within its local juridiction (claim exceeding RM250,000 ) or with consent of parties the jurisdiction of the other High Court. 
  • specific jurisdictions pertaining to divorce/matrimonial matters,admiralty in rem,bankruptcy,infants and mentally disordered persons and administration of estates. 
Criminal
  • criminal appeal from Subordinate Courts. 
  • criminal jurisdiction on cases within local jurisdictions and those which carry death sentence,offences at the high seas on board ship or aircraft,Penal Code cases(Chapter IV),offences under Schedule in Extra-Territorial Offences Act 1976 ,and any offences under any written law the commission  of which was certified by the Attorney-General as affecting the security of Malaysia at the high seas on board ship or aircraft or in any place without and beyond the limits of Malaysia..
