The Rt.Hon.Tan Sri Datuk Amar Steve Shim Lip Kiong

 

The Chief Judge

The Right Honourable Tan Sri Datuk Amar Steve Shim Lip Kiong is the Chief Judge of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.

After an early education  at St. Joseph's Primary and Secondary School, Kuching, Sarawak, he took his G.C.E.(A) Levels at Westminister College, London in 1962.  In 1969 he received his Barrister-At-Law at Inner Temple, Inns of Court, London . In 1980, he obtained his Master of Laws (Honours) from Faculty of International and Comparative Law at the University of Brussels, Belgium .

His career with the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service began on August 10, 1970 when he was a Cadet Legal Officer in Kuching, Sarawak. In 1977, he was the Registrar of the Borneo High Court . He also held the position of Sessions Court Judge, Kuala Lumpur in 1989.  He was appointed Judicial Commissioner of Sibu High Court on March 1, 1992 and later appointed the High Court Judge on August 1, 1992.  He then served in Kuching in 1996, and Kuala Lumpur in 1997.  He then held the post of Acting Chief Judge of High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in Kuching in July 2000, prior to his elevation as the Chief Judge of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.
